What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

When registering on our site, you will be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, American Institute of Architects Membership Number, or other applicable association membership information and related occupational details to help you with your experience and to help us learn more about our audience. Only your email address, your name and your association membership number(s) are required to manage your data acording to the requirements of the approval organizations.

In consideration for your use of the site, you agree to: (a) provide true, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself as prompted by the form for your account information and (b) maintain and promptly update the account information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete. If you provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or if we have reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current, or incomplete, we have the right to not report your achievement, or to suspend or terminate your account and refuse any and all current or future use of the site.

When do we collect information?

We collect information from you when you register on our site or when you enter information on our site such as by clicking enroll to select a video, clicking play to watch a video, or when taking a quiz.

You may also have already provided your personal information to a third party who is using our site to deliver our content via their site. If so, your PII is shared with us so we may use it in the same manner we would if you had entered our site directly, and all conditions of data collection and use as described herein are applicable.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register on the site, when you enroll in a course, and when you watch a video, or take a quiz:

  • To track your progress when taking courses or to track your answers and scores to quizzes associated with those courses.
  • To inform you of any new courses, safety or product bulletins, new products, product improvements, product testing, news, or invitations associated with the product or manufacturer- sponsor of courses in which you have chosen to enroll.
  • To inform you of new courses available to you, or to remind you to complete courses you have already begun.
  • To connect you with and validate your activity to the course sponsor in exchange for their preparation and offering of video or text content and providing that content free-of-charge.
  • To report your successful course completion to The American Institute of Architects (AIA), or other crediting organizations as required.
  • To feed back to you your successful course completion and provide a means for you to receive a printable file containing a certificate of successful completion for State licensure.
  • To present any opportunities to you for continuing education or other practice-related subjects that we believe you might find beneficial, which may result from our collaboration with trade organizations or manufacturers.

Communication may originate under our brand or under the brand names of our member/media partner, Construction Business Media, LLC.

How do we protect visitor information?

Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible.

Do we use 'cookies'?

Yes. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to anyone other than content sponsors, trade organizations such as ALA, ASLA, IDCEC, and AIA, or other crediting organizations as required. This does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, partners in course development, professionals assisting us in conducting our business, or servicing our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release information when its release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety.

As is the common practice of providers of Professional Education to architects, we offer manufacturer sponsored continuing education courses and other services for free in exchange for contact information which is shared only with the sponsor, or the AIA and other CEU crediting organizations as required.

We do not include or offer third-party products or services on our website. We may include links to sponsor websites or web sites hosted or managed by the owners of TCA or our associates who help us distribute the site across the internet via iframe.

Google and Vimeo

We use Google Analytics to track activity on the site and we use Vimeo to capture additional non-personal usage data generated by our collective audience.

Opting out

Our methodology requires your PII in order to deliver your course and report your activity to course sponsors who provide those courses to you, and to report your successful completion to the AIA and/or other crediting organizations, where appropriate, and to provide you a means for receiving a printable file containing a certificate of successful completion. You may opt out at any time by removing your PII from your login account. But if you do, you will sever the only means we have for providing you with course content, reporting your successful course completion, and maintaining your local transcript. Data loss will occur if you terminate your account, so you should copy your transcript information and save your certificates of completion before doing so.

California Online Privacy Protection Act

CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law's reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy. - See more at:
